Grilled Veggies Sandwiches

Need I say more?
Okay, yes, I do.
I didn’t make the bread. I was too lazy. But I bought a round loaf of cheese bread from the bakery and sliced it in half. Then I picked some FRESH ROSEMARY from our garden and chopped it up into little bits (okay, I tore it with my fingers, but it was just my husband and two of the kids), and I mixed it into a quarter cup of softened butter, slathered that onto each side of the round CHEESE bread, and laid the bread on the grill, which was still on from grilling the veggies.
Weird Secret: I love the smell of herbs so much that when I’m outside working in the yard I can’t help but run my hands over them to release the scent!
My garden doesn’t have anything in it yet to pick, except lettuce and herbs, so I went to a local farm to see what I could get. Nothing for my sandwiches, though I did get some asparagus and 3 quarts of strawberries. My kids were disappointed that we weren’t picking our own, but we were short on time because the big one of the two who came with me had to get home to get dressed for a party. And yes, a 21 year old and a 15 year old can be just as sad as a 7 year old when they find out they aren’t getting to pick their own strawberries!
But we bought some onions, peppers, yellow squash, & zucchini, basted them with oil and seasonings, and enjoyed sandwiches for dinner.
Even The Bouncer (my husband) enjoyed them, though his sandwich had basted and grilled bread with ham and cheese in the middle, sans vegetables. Though he enjoys veggies in some things, a sandwich was just too sacred for him to mess up with vegetables!
