Housecleaning and Prayer

Cartoon from Idea Girl

I admit it, I’m an awful house keeper.

Even before I worked full time, when my children were kids, I was a terrible house cleaner!  I was a good mom, I spent time playing and educating my children, and neglected all but the most necessary housework. I still think that was not a bad thing.

However, my kids are older and now I make more messes than they do!

And I’m STILL an awful house keeper.   But there are reasons that everyone should follow a schedule and make an effort to clean…

A clean house gives:

  1. a better attitude
  2. better discernment
  3. stress relief

Most of us have experienced this first hand.

But since the new year started I have been making prayer and bible study an important part of my daily schedule. I truly have seen the results of doing this, and they include:

  1. a better attitude
  2. better discernment
  3. stress relief
Imagine that! Prayer and bible study offer similar results… and since ultimately the prayer and bible study habit yields great rewards (In Him), I think I’m going to spend that extra 15 minutes at night on prayer instead of my end of night clean-up!
Just kidding, I still might pick up a few things…
Now, let me say that I did NOT intent to write about cleaning in two posts in one week. Honestly, that is one time too many for me! However, in light of passion week, I’m sure I can bear the pressure.
Our God is awesome, and I pray that He is using this time to bring our hearts through our pain and selfish desires into the focus that He would have for our lives.  Take some time this week to pause and clean – physically AND spiritually – focusing on His will.  And if you can spare the time, come and share here how He is working in your life!
